A Nuclear Medicine Scan provides different information than a regular x-ray. The scan will show not only the structure of an organ or body part, but also whether or not the organ is functioning properly. It's a painless procedure that uses very low-level radioactive chemicals and sophisticated cameras and computers. The scan helps diagnose a number of medical conditions in various areas of the body such as the abdomen, brain, blood, gallbladder, heart, kidneys, liver and spleen, lungs, lymphatic system, skeletal system, stomach, and the thyroid and parathyroid glands.

The following scans require preparation:
Bone Densitometry
Gallium Scan
Gastric Empty Study
Gated Blood Pool Scan H. Pylori Breath Test
Hepatic Hemangioma Scan
Hepatobiliary (Gallbladder) Scan
Liver/Spleen Scan
Nuclear Stress Test Sestamibi
Parathyroid Study
