Staff members from University Suburban Health Center's maintenance staff were among 1,000 volunteers who helped build South Euclid's Playground of Possibilities over a five-day period in late September. The playground, located at Bexley Park on Wrenford and Temple Roads, is 98% green. It also will be wheelchair/handicapped accessible soon.
Eric Mix, Ted Kelley, Joe Couts, Larry Day and Chris Ricchiuto took turns with one employee volunteering each day to work an 8-hour shift. The staff was involved in activities that ran the gamut from installing fences, stairs and decks to sawing wood and cutting rails. According to Chris Ricchiuto, USHC's facility Director, his staff members were also used as "captains" to help mentor and director other volunteers.
